Therefore, there’s no doubt that why so many people, including me, love eating food made of green tea.

Eat, Pray, Love

Eat, Pray, Love

Delicious food is a good companion of travel. Movie Eat, Pray, Love is an example of it. In this movie, Elizabeth Gilbert travels in Italy to find delicious food to amuse herself. She gains happiness and enjoyment from Italian food. This movie doesn’t tell us how to cook or find Italian food, but let us know that eating is as important as praying and love. Food not only provides us an experience of sense of taste but a tour of spirit.

Traditional Xiamen Market–Bashi

Xiamen, which is located in Fujian Province is famous for its large variety of seafood and beautiful scenery. I think when you visit Xiamen, Bashi (the Eighth Market) is the very place that let you experience daily life of a local Xiamen citizen; besides, the types of seafood in Bashi must amaze you. You name it, they have it. But I think the fact is that you do not know most of them. So I strongly recommend that if you go travel in Xiamen, do not just eating seafood but walking around in a typical seafood market as well.

Tapas More Than Appetizers

Though the paella in Spain let me down, tapas were a big surprise to me.

To be honest, I have had no idea what tapas were because I have had never heard about it before I went to Spain. Therefore, only when I found out the word ’tapas’ was wrote in the menu of every bar or cafe, did I come to realize its importance for Spaniards. Actually, tapas are appetizers or snacks in Spanish cuisine. Spaniards like tapas because there’s a long period of time among each meal. (Lunch is usually served between 2 and 4 p.m., while dinner is between 9 and 10 p.m.)

Totally, I have ordered about ten kinds of tapas when I was in Spain. But that just the top of the iceberg. There’re countless tapas. Different cafe and bar serves different tapas. The taste of tapas was good and every kind of tapas looked so tasty that you couldn’t resist.

It’s quite often to see tapas have a toothpick through them. A local Spaniard told me that using a toothpick was easy to count how many tapas a customer has eaten and meanwhile a toothpick could fix well every layer of the tapas.

I strongly recommend all of you to try some tapas when travelling around Spain. They are more than appetizers.

The Disappointed Paella

Last month, I went to Spain. Before I have had begun my journey, I strongly expected to taste the yummy Spanish food, especially the famous paella!!!

Journey was always full of unexpected disappointment.  Unfortunately, paella is one of the example.

Why?

Because how could the paella be so salty??? Oh, my!!!

I could not taste delicacy of rice, meat, seafood and vegetable of paella, because I was disappointed by its taste and drank lots of, lots of  water at the meantime.

Besides, there’s one more reason. How could you enjoy paella with a normal plate rather than a hot pan? But as soon as the paella was served in a pan, it’s moved to a plate immediately or it’s just served with a plate directly. Where is my pan???

Paella means pans for Valencians who cooked this food first and regard paella as their traditional symbol. Therefore, to a tourist like me, paella without a pan is not called paella. It’s just rice with seafood or meat. To me, cooking ware is an significant part for food. We often fall in love with food at first sight because of the cooking ware. More importantly, it’s an indispensable segment for the food itself, like pan to paella.

All in all, I think the paella cooked in China is more delicious, more perhaps I should say it’s more suitable to me. So paella tells me that original is not always the best.
